Evening Walk

Removed One Thing Before I Left the House, Not Quite Coco Chanel Style--Wednesday, 11/16/16

I had originally thought to replicate this black pseudo-suit look from last September, but I could not resist the urge to try my blue skinny pants with it instead.

From honestlymodern.com

Although the blue shades in the pants and shirt weren't quite the same, I thought they were close enough.  It didn't feel quite natural to wear men-style shoes with this outfit (I would have gravitated toward ballet flats) but I decided to try it as a nod toward the inspiration photo.

Black/blue/white scroll print top (thrifted, Liz Claiborne), $1.33/wear
Blue skinny pants (thrifted, Macy's), $2.25/wear
Black ponte knit blazer (Target), $1.78/wear
Black Oxfords (thrifted, Munro American), $0.45/wear
Double strand pearls (Macy's)

Outfit total: $5.81/wear

I initially wore a pearl necklace to fill in some of the space around my neckline, but upon seeing these photos decided, Gods no.  There may be places for the mixed-up pearls + men's shoes look, but this is not one of them.  So I (uncharacteristically) wore no necklace or scarf with it.  I would say this is one of my least successful/favorite outfits, but it was interesting to try something new.

I decided to purge this top out of my closet after wearing it in this one last outfit--there's nothing wrong with it per se, but I own so many things I like better that I decided to free up that space.  But these pants continue to be a winner in my view.  Of course, just as everyone else in the world is starting to wear wide leg pants again, I finally embrace a pair of skinny pants.  Hah.  But I think it's safe to assume that skinny pants aren't going to be hitting the fashion dust heap any time soon.  They are too popular and too practical to be put aside en masse.

This black Havana rabbit shows us how to stretch (and how to mix black and blue).

In other news...When life gets you down, remember these 16 soothing web sites.

After dinner, Robert and I took a 1:45 (2.91 mile according to Robert's app) Pokemon walk in our neighborhood.  It was a really lovely evening for it, not warm but not at all too cool even in Robert's opinion.  We stuck to the well-lit areas around our apartment and down the walking path next to the main road (which is actually well set in from the road because there is also a bike path between the walking path and the street).  The highlights were catching our first really good Dratini (our only other Dratini is a 10 CP one I caught early on that is our buddy) and our first Pikachu after a long hunt.  (The Pikachu was visible on our "Sightings" but we never found it...until we gave up and retraced our steps back to within a block of apartment and then it popped up on screen.)

Now I'm ready to kick back and drink a whole lot of iced green tea.

I would pick the Soft Murmur website for a calming time. I have always loved nature sounds.

Your outfit for today is the least expensive one that I've noticed, if not one of the least expensive. I bet you love seeing those numbers going down.

Today I found out that we have a Hipchat "room" at work called "Cats!" And it delivers with nothing but cat photos/animated gifs etc. :)

Nature sounds and cats are both good choices!

Mom--yes, and it helps when most items in the outfit are thrifted.

Speaking of sounds--Last night on our walk, I heard what turned out to have been a (surprisingly distant for how loud it was) squeak from a trailer when a truck stopped suddenly that, when I first heard it, I momentarily truly believed to be some kind of killer drone zooming in on us. WTH?
