Oh Summer

Summer Professional Wear--Thursday, 10/1/15

OK, so summer is definitely pushing it--it's October in Coldville, the leaves are starting to turn, and we're expecting a high of 65 F.

But I still wanted to try a take on this brightly-hued, tights-free combination, and this is possibly (past my) very last chance of doing so until late next May!  Bright pink, bright blue, white, and floral print seems right up my alley, even if both shoe options are Sally no-nos.

From pennilesssocialite.blogspot.com

I could be pretty faithful to the foundation pieces of this ensemble, but for the shoes, I substituted my cream floral flats (to stand in for the floral bag).  I tried it first with a bright pink flower necklace but I felt pretty meh about that, so I went to the closet to find a scarf.  This one was a perfect match to the cardigan and skirt, so it was a no-brainer.

Bright pink pencil skirt (JCP), $2.26/wear
Blue V neck T-shirt cardigan (Lands End), $6.00/wear
White short-sleeved T (Lands End), $2.40/wear
Navy/pink floral scarf (Kohls), $3.72/wear
Cream floral flats (Payless), $2.60/wear

Outfit total: $16.98/wear

I admit that it does feel a bit funny to be doubled up on floral print.  I could have switched my shoes to bright pink ballet flats or blue pointy-toed flats but decided to stick with my first choice and push my comfort zone a bit with the multiple floral prints.  It's funny--I think nothing of putting stripes, plaid, floral, and leopard prints together in one outfit, but wearing two different floral prints makes me feel a little self-conscious.  But I got over that pretty quickly and enjoyed the quirky "not quite nude" floral flats in place of a matchy-matchy or plain (e.g., rose gold) option.

I've been a bit pleasantly surprised this week that my bare legs are coping with the cooler weather just fine.  I've even been running the fan in my office.  I hope this means that I can put off tights a little while longer.

Anyway, summer can never be fully over as long as I have photos of State Fair Rabbits!

In other news...Today's Throwback Thursday is clearly fall-oriented--Halloween costumes from the 70s.  Ready to be creeped out?  Check out #8!

Wow, before I read this blog entry I got dressed in blue jeans, a white t-shirt and a cardigan almost the same color as your skirt! I love that combination of colors, so I really love your outfit.

Thanks! And I'm glad to see I inspired you without you even reading the blog post ;)
