That's the Spirit

I've put together my research proposal presentation for tomorrow.  It's always nice when it's timely (about gift giving to children), you can mention one of your pet peeves (the "one big gift" swindle that started with the wise men and has become a hated tradition for millions of kids), and you can illustrate not just one but two of your points with lolcats.

No one can question my holiday spirit after sharing these lolcats with you.

What do you mean by the "one big gift" swindle?

You know - the nefarious practice of getting kids with birthdays around Christmas "one big gift" instead of separate gifts for the two occasions. The "one big gift" is never twice as big. Arguably Jesus was the first to get this combination birthday/Christmas gift, from the wise men. (Man, I would love to see the Jimmy Fallon I Got My Kid a Terrible Present video of Jesus and the gold, frankincense, and myrrh...)

One of my friends, after I mentioned that it was your birthday recently, asked me if I was jealous growing up that you got so many presents for both your birthday plus Christmas. Alas, no, not as fun as it may sound.

Jen, at least being before Christmas I haven't ever gotten a plastic Christmas-themed suncatcher from the clearance shelf for my birthday like Dad.

Ah, that swindle! I don't think that ever happened to me. I usually got my birthday presents from extended family around Thanksgiving when I would visit them.

The "one big" Thanksgiving/birthday gift sounds like a pretty good deal :)
