Creepy Dictator Posters

Tam and I have talked about how the posters of Obama look like government propaganda for a dictator - they make me think of North Korea's "Great Leader" Kim Jong Il.

This blog entry points out that the artist based the poster on the famous image of Che Guevara, the Communist guerrilla, revolutionary, and sex symbol for deluded (and ignorant) left-wing college students. Niiiice.

But come on, let's face it, there's only one kind of Marxism worth believing in.

The only real Marxism

Rufus T. Firefly for President!

"These are the laws of my administration:

No one's allowed to smoke
Or tell a dirty joke
And whistling is forbidden...[whistles]
If chewing gum is chewed
The chewer is pursued
And in the hoosegow hidden...

If any form of pleasure is exhibited
Report to me and it will be prohibited.
I'll put my foot down, so shall it be.
This is the land of the free.

The last man nearly ruined this place
He didn't know what to do with it.
If you think this country's bad off now
Just wait 'til I get through with it.
The country's taxes must be fixed
And I know what to do with it
If you think you're paying too much now
Just wait 'til I get through with it...

I will not stand for anything that's crooked or unfair
I'm strictly on the up and up
So everyone beware
If anyone's caught taking graft
And I don't get my share
We stand 'em up against the wall
And pop goes the weasel.

If any man should come between her husband and his bride
We find out which one she prefers
By letting her decide
If she prefers the other man
The husband steps outside
We stand 'em up against the wall
And pop goes the weasel.

The linked article shows Jones' "Yes we Can Cola" in honor of Obama. Why does "Yes we Can Cola" come in a bottle, rather than a can? I mean, yes, they can cola.

Yes they can cola, but I guess they don't like it. (I feel stupid, but yeah, I didn't actually understand how the name of the soda was a joke until I saw this comment.)

R, thanks for commenting in the spirit of Groucho. You are clearly a Marxian at heart.

Also, if I had any Photoshop skillz, I would make one of these posters featuring Leo and "HOP" but, sigh, you will only have to imagine it.
